Settlement Grants Program (SGP)

Humanitarian Women SGP Project

The project aims to provide orientation, community development and integration services to newly arrived refugee and humanitarian women in the MRC's catchment area.

The project aims to improve access to mainstream services and to enhance the capacity of refugee and humanitarian women to integrate and participate fully in the wider Australian society. This is achieved through casework, referrals, group information sessions and community development activities.

The project provides cultural orientation through the delivery of linguistically and culturally sensitive information to the target group through information sessions & workshops addressing a number of issues including social isolation, English language proficiency, employment, education, financial management, accommodation and health. The project also raises awareness of the issues that the target group are confronting with in their process of settlement.
