Generalist Project
The Generalist Project assists and guides newly arrived refugees and migrants in Central Western Sydney with capacity building and enrichment programs. This project aims to resource and empower communities to integrate successfully within the wider community and lead purposeful lives. This project works from a strengths based approach and believes in building on social capital through the nurturing and promotion of emerging role models who in turn help close the settlement gap for others. We also aim to streamline service provision by enhancing the cultural competency of mainstream agencies.
Programs include:
- Community Education (Scholarship Assistance Scheme, MRC Internships)
- Life Skills / Integration Programs (eg cultural transition, financial management, negotiating education/employment pathways)
- Service Planning (cross cultural education for service providers, advocacy training, building partnership capital through networking)
- Community Consultations (to identify common settlement needs and cultural competencies of the communities)
- Capacity building Programs ( mentoring & leadership programs for adults and young adults -19-24yrs, develop peer support models, arts programs, grant sourcing /writing/management )
