Settlement Grants Program (SGP)

Community Capacity Building Project

The Community Capacity Building Project of the MRC provides coordination of services for CALD communities in the catchment area of the MRC. The project also coordinates the activities of the SGP team who are engaged in the provision of settlement information and assistance to target communities. The role assists in leading, facilitating and developing community driven strategies that address identified needs and priorities of CALD communities. The project networks with various service providers in the catchment of the MRC to raise issues identified and to assist services with strategies in their service delivery.

Following are activities that the Community Capacity Building Project of the MRC facilitates:

  • Provides information to CALD residents on MRC services, mainstream and other community services and resources;
  • Advocates for better service delivery for CALD communities in the catchment area;
  • Develops and delivers a range of projects and services that are responsive to the needs and issues of the target communities;
  • Participates in local, regional and state planning forums and consultative processes and facilitates CALD communities input;
  • Advocates, on behalf of CALD communities, with various levels of government for funding and service provision.
